Heat-Related Illness Prevention

This course provides essential training on recognizing, preventing, and responding to heat-related illnesses in automotive service and repair environments. Attendees will learn about the symptoms and treatment of conditions such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and rhabdomyolysis, as well as the environmental and occupational factors that contribute to heat stress. The course outlines OSHA guidelines, acclimatization protocols, and best practices for hydration, rest, and protective equipment to ensure a safe and productive workplace during periods of extreme heat.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • Understand the causes, symptoms, and differences between common heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and rhabdomyolysis.
  • Learn appropriate first aid responses and emergency actions for heat-related incidents in the workplace.
  • Identify environmental and occupational factors that contribute to heat stress in service and repair shops.
  • Apply OSHA guidance and best practices for acclimatization, hydration, PPE use, and workplace modifications to prevent heat-related illness.
