The Executive Council, by a vote of 4-1, recently confirmed John Formella as the next Attorney General for New Hampshire. AG Formella was most recently Governor Sununu’s in-house legal counsel and he will replace former AG Gordon MacDonald who is now the Chief Justice of the NH Supreme Court.
AG Formella is a graduate of George Washington University Law School and has lived in NH since 2012 working for the law firm of Pierce Atwood. He was nominated for the role by Governor Sununu. Many gubernatorial legal counsels of both parties have been elevated to Attorney General in the past. We look forward to working with him and wish him the best of luck in this critical role for NH.
