Renew Early & Save: Dealer License Price to Increase in 2026

IMPORTANT: Beginning January 1, 2026, the cost to obtain and renew your two-year DMV dealer license is set to increase. As a result of last year's budget, most all license fees on regulated entities were increased to cover a budget shortfall. NHADA encourages all members to renew as soon as possible this calendar year to avoid the cost increase. The process, along with the renewal requirement, remains the same and is due and mailed to the Dealer Desk by March 31.

You may find the following tips for the process helpful:

  • You can find the application here. Choose the dealer license type under the heading “Motor Vehicle Dealers”.  Once you have clicked on the dealer license type, click on the application for a license and read the instructions for completing the licensing application. You will notice that this is the same application used for a new license, however, you will need to check the renewal box on the upper right-hand side.
  • Please make sure all questions on the application are filled out completely. The DMV is unable to fill in any item for you. Incomplete applications, supporting documents, and checks will be sent back.
  • A certificate of good standing is required on all renewal applications. The link is here.
  • A new criminal background check is not required if a valid one has already been provided and no new owner/responsible party is being added to the application.
  • If leasing, please ensure your lease information is up to date.
  • Please make sure your bond is up-to-date or continuous. If your bond is up to date, you only need to list the bond company name and bond number.
  • If you do not furnish an inspection station, please make sure a current service agreement is provided.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dealer and Inspection Desk at (603) 227-4120.
