Reminder: The Energy Credits Online (ECO) Portal Will Stop Accepting 2025 Submissions June 1, 2026; Ensure points of contact are current in the ECO portal
As previously communicated, beginning June 1, 2026, you will no longer be able to submit late time of sale reports for calendar year 2025 sales through the Energy Credits Online (ECO) portal.
Act now to submit any outstanding 2025 time of sale reports to help avoid delays, errors, or denied credits when your customers file their tax returns. To help expedite review, be sure to upload all supporting documentation through the ECO portal at the time of submission.
If you encounter issues submitting a late time of sale report, please contact us through Secure Messaging.
For instructions on using Secure Messaging, refer to Publication 6025, Secure Messaging: Contact the IRS through Secure Messaging User Guide.
Ensure points of contact are current in the ECO portal
When we need to request additional information or share important updates related to your clean vehicle submissions, we will contact your entity’s designated clean energy officer.
To ensure we are reaching the correct point of contact, please regularly review, update, and confirm your entity’s contact information in the ECO portal.
The first user who registers on behalf of your entity is designated as the clean energy officer. This role has full access to ECO functionalities, including adding users and assigning permissions.
As a best practice, your account should always maintain at least two clean energy officers. If your account currently has only one user, add an additional clean energy officer as soon as possible.
For more information, refer to Publication 5902, Clean Energy Authorization Permission Management.
Need a listing of previously submitted time of sale reports?
You can download your dealership’s transaction history from the “Submitted Time of Sale Reports” menu in the ECO portal. To generate the report, click the “Download All Submitted Time of Sale Reports” button located in the lower-right corner of the screen.
