HIGH SCHOOL AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

Currently, there are 19 Automotive Technology programs located regionally throughout New Hampshire, serving more than 1,000 junior and senior students from every community. Automotive Technology programs are designed to provide a student basic skills and understanding in four areas of automotive service: steering and suspension, engine performance, brakes, and electronics.

Due to the rapidly changing technology contained in today's automobiles, successful programs must keep pace by implementing and maintaining a modern classroom curriculum and laboratory experience. Thanks to an industry standard known as NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation), schools are able to certify their programs through the governing body ASE (Automotive Service Excellence). Upon completion of NATEF Certification, schools may elect to go on and achieve the highest level of certification known as AYES (Automotive Youth Educational Systems). This unique program combines classroom excellence with a student internship at a participating franchised dealership. This unparalleled school-to-work experience allows students to participate in a hands-on "for-pay" experience during their junior year summer. The end results are senior students with real-world experience and an understanding of complex and necessary skills needed in order to be successful in a career as automotive technicians. AYES is a national partnership between every automobile manufacturer, state dealer association, and the Department of Education.

Listed below are each of the high school Automotive Technology programs located in New Hampshire and their respective certifications. For more information, please contact Jean Conlon at 800-852-3372 or via e-mail at jconlon@nhada.com.
